I was finally able to get a video to upload! He is such a little talker now. We love it. I'm still learning how to work the video recorder so bear with me and just ignore my annoying voice :) I recorded this video vertically, but can't figure out how to rotate now so you might have to strain your neck a little when you watch it! I'll update again soon.

Where is the time going?!

Jaiden is now 2 months old and getting bigger every day! He weighs 12 LBS 11 OZ and is 23 ½ inches long!! He has almost doubled his birth weight in just 2 months time! The Doctor was extremely pleased with his growth and all his new developments. He has amazing head and neck control for a 2 month old and she was so surprised to hear him cooing back at her, smiling, and even throwing in a laugh. Everything went great until the shots. Yikes. Needless to say he was not a happy camper. The Doctor had finished her check up and Jaiden and I were left waiting in the room for the nurse to come back to give him his shots. We had been in the room for about an hour and forty minutes (we waited on the Doctor for about an hour) so Jaiden had just fallen asleep as the nurse walked in. He wakes up so happy from his naps, but if he gets woken up, it’s a completely different story, so I knew this wasn’t going to be good from the beginning. Poor baby screamed his head off. He had 3 shots and in between each one he would look up at me between the screams... ugh, it broke my heart. Poor little monkey. After they were done I was finally able to scoop him up and calm him down. It’s such an amazing feeling being able to bring comfort to him with just a hug and the sound of my voice. He slept for awhile when we got home and then was pretty fussy for the remainder of the night. He is doing so much better today. I can tell his legs are a little sore as he cries when he kicks, but he hasn’t run a fever at all and seems to be in good spirits. Kevin and I have started taking some videos of him cooing and smiling at us, but I’m having trouble uploading them. I’ll keep trying though so check back in a couple days. I hope to have one up soon!

Exciting News... And Not So Exciting News

First and foremost, I have to update everyone... Jaiden is back to his happy, perky self again. He never ended up having a fever, just a nasty cold for about a week. He is still just slightly stuffed up every once in awhile, but other than that he’s doing great. I have officially decided that the absolute best thing in life is seeing his face light up when I walk in a room. This morning when I went to get him out of his crib, he saw me walk in his room and words cannot express how much my heart melted at the sight of his face when he saw me. The last 2 or 3 days he is really starting to focus on our faces as we are talking to him and he is studying our facial expressions. He now is looking in the direction where noise is coming from trying to figure things out. He absolutely loves any kind of music and anything that lights up. His coos are coming more frequently and we just love to make him smile. Kevin and I actually take turns counting to see who can make him smile the fastest. HA! In the past week I have noticed he now has different distinct cries... hungry, pure exhaustion, startled, etc. are all so unique to one another that I now feel more confident as to what he needs at any given time. He’s changed our lives in just a short time, and we love him so much. It’s hard to imagine what life was like before he arrived!
Now for the exciting news... Kevin started his new job today! Thank God for no more busy season and ridiculously long hours!!! For those of you who don’t know, an opportunity presented itself to him back in December. He honestly wasn’t looking for anything at the time, especially because baby was due within weeks, but this came to him. After talking it over with me and a few others, he decided to look into it. We were surprised at just how good of an opportunity this was for him. After going through the long interview process he was offered a position and we are thrilled about it. Again, there was nothing wrong with Plante & Moran, but this new position is just a better fit for us. His new position is as a business development financial analyst for Stryker in the Craniomaxillofacial department. He seems thrilled about it, and I can’t wait to see how the first day went.
The not so exciting news... I have to have that dreaded root canal tomorrow. Ugh! I’m not looking forward to it at all, but I’m trying to look at the big picture and imagine waking up without pain in my mouth. It’s been awhile. My mom is going to come over and watch our little monkey and I’m excited for her to see how much he’s changed in the last week or so. It’s so hard to believe he’ll be 2 months old on Friday! He has a Doctor’s appointment next Tuesday and has to get a few shots... Yikes! I’ll give you all another update afterwards.

Poor Baby :(

To say we’ve had a rough couple days is an understatement. Our little man is so sick. We were at the Dr.’s office for a little over 2 hours on Saturday morning. Jaiden has a stuffy nose, horrible cough, an extremely red sore throat, and is having a hard time breathing because of being so congested. The Dr explained that the one good thing going for him is that he doesn’t have a fever. We are to watch him extremely closely the next couple days. If he spikes a fever, his cough becomes louder, more frequent, or more intense, or if he struggles more than he already is with breathing, we are to take him to the hospital. She told us that if any of those things happen it will most likely mean that he has come down with RSV. This is a fairly common thing for babies and toddlers and they can normally bounce back within a week or so, BUT because he is still so young this isn’t the case for him. He would probably need to stay at the hospital for 2 – 3 days. The chances of this turning into pneumonia is greater for him than others who are older. Needless to say, any prayers for our little guy would be greatly appreciated. It’s just not fair that he has to go through this. He’s way too young. I’ll update again in the next couple days, hopefully on a much happier note!
