6 Month Doctor’s Appointment

Jaiden’s 6 month check-up went so good Wednesday morning! He is 19 lbs 9 oz (81 percentile) and 28 inches tall (89 percentile). I think he’s finally started to slow down on the growing thing for awhile.. thank goodness. She said from here on out he will probably gain about a pound a month. We were told that we can now start sippy cups, juice, and some real food... Fun Fun!! Jaiden and I made a trip to Babies R Us this morning and bought tons of new and exciting things for him to try. He is absolutely in love the Gerber Graduates yogurt melts and puffs. They dissolve almost as soon as you put it in your mouth so he had no problems. He already gets excited when I pull the bag of yogurt melts out. I’m anxious to see what he’ll do with sippy cups. He doesn’t get very many bottles so I’m thinking he might not get it just yet, but we’ll see. Kevin was able to make it to this appointment, and of course Jaiden decided to completely switch things up this time around and not even cry during his shots. Kevin swears that it was because he was there. I’m so proud of the little monkey... but really?! He definitely could’ve showed a few tears so Daddy could experience the gut-wrenching helplessness that I’ve felt at every appointment. He was not even fazed during the first shot, and then when the second one came around he gave a little pouty face and then that was it. What a little trooper. Hopefully he’ll take them like a champ again at his 9 month appointment when I’m there by myself...

6 Months Old!!

First of all... we’ve got a tooth! Jaiden finally cut his first tooth through yesterday morning. We’ve had a pretty cranky little guy the past couple days, but we can sure understand why. I think his gums are really bugging him... thank goodness for Baby Orajel! He absolutely hates when we put it on, and will ball his fists together, clench his jaw shut as tight as humanly possible, and shake his head back and forth as if in effort to tell us NO MORE. Me, being the nice sweet momma that I am, of course had to get this on video. One day he can laugh at it with the rest of us. I think he is just starting to realize that as much as he hates it, it really does help within a couple minutes.

Other exciting news- Jaiden’s communication skills are expanding rapidly on a daily basis. It’s been so fun to watch all the changes just over the last couple weeks. He is starting to repeat syllables ba-ba-ba and na-na-na and has recently thrown in a little num-num-num... so as you all can imagine I’m really pushing the MMMMMs, in hopes to hear a “MAMA” soon.... oh, and of course DaDa too. My guess is that mama is coming out first. It honestly sounds like it’s just at the tip of his tongue so we’ll see.

We have a doctor’s appointment set up for Wednesday morning for his 6 month check up so I’ll post some updates during his nap in the afternoon. I have a feeling that we’re going to be making the switch over to the next car seat way sooner than we had anticipated. The one we have now goes up to 22 lbs and he has to be close to the limit. Yikes!

We had such a fun weekend celebrating Fathers Day and spending time with our families. We made a couple trips to the pool and Jaiden had a blast splashing around in his little tube and watching all of the bigger kids play. It's days like yesterday that remind me just how lucky and blessed I have been. I have the most amazing boys in my life :)

Videos & Family Pictures!

Here are a few videos that I’ve been meaning to upload in the last couple weeks. The top one is of Jaiden sitting up on his own playing with toys (particularly his singing monkey which he squeals for everytime he sees it), and the last is from lunchtime yesterday... Jaiden’s first time eating peas! He loves food and gets super excited to see me get his box of rice cereal out of the cabinet. I’m pretty sure he’s figured out what is coming next- time to eat!!

We got our family pictures back that we had taken a couple weeks ago, and they turned out amazing. We love them and are so happy Abby was able to take time out of her schedule to take them for us. I've uploaded a few of them, but there are tons more. I have attached the link below so you can see them all.

I’m looking forward to this weekend to celebrate Kevin’s first Father’s Day, but am determined to stay super busy to keep my mind off the fact that my baby will be 6 months old...

Jaiden’s A Trooper!

Kevin, my Mom, and I left early Saturday morning for Pennsylvania not quite sure what to expect traveling 9+ hours (more like 11 hours with all the different stops to feed him) straight in the car with a 5 and a half month old... but once again Jaiden did amazing. He played with toys, watched lots of Baby Einstein on the portable DVD player, took naps, and thoroughly enjoyed when we would put the windows down. I’m not sure if it was the breeze or the noise of the wind but whatever it was it worked like a charm whenever he would start to get fussy. The last hour or so, both there and back, he had had enough. I’ve never seen him so happy to get out of his car seat and stretch out before. The ceremony didn't start until 3:30 on Sunday so we ventured out to Hershey, PA in the morning and went to Hershey's Chocolate World. We toured the chocolate factory and of course had to taste the end results. Yumm! My family and I had vacationed there in the past so I remembered parts, but it was good to do it again. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and we all had such a great time. Jaiden got lots of attention from all the ladies there :) I’m glad he has been able to adjust so well to all the different adventures we’ve thrown him into. It just makes me even more excited about our big trip to Myrtle Beach this September!

Jaiden has now completely mastered sitting up on his own and will throw a little fit if he’s laying down for more than a couple minutes. He has also finally learned to roll from back to stomach. He’s been doing stomach to back for months but never got the hang of the other way around. Kevin took him into the pool at our hotel in PA and as you can see from the pictures he absolutely loves the water. I’m thrilled about this! We have a pool and splash park in our neighborhood and I’m sure we will be spending a lot of time there this summer... along with lounging by the lake at my parent’s house. He has been loving his rice cereal and we just finished a week on squash and moved onto apples this morning! He’s loved everything so far, (including a lick or two of ice cream!) so we’re hoping the streak continues. I took a video of him tasting apples this morning so I'll do my best to upload that sometime this week.
