7 Months Old...

We’ve had an insanely busy couple weeks. My soon to be sister in law Linley and niece Ryley were in town for a week and Jaiden and I had so much fun getting together with them. We did a little bit of wedding planning, visited the splash park, went swimming, hung out with family, and relaxed. It’s so crazy to see Jaiden (7 months old) and Ryley (15 months) together now... when Jaiden was first born the age gap seemed to be so big, but we can already see the gap narrowing. Soon enough they’re going to be running around together calling the shots as we chase after them both.

This past weekend Amanda, Brady, Scott, and Cammie were all in town so we spent some time over at my parent’s house visiting with everyone. Jaiden went on his first boat ride and loved sitting on Grandpa’s lap helping drive the boat. I’m sure as Jaiden gets older he will be creating many memories out on the lake.

It’s hard to fathom that Jaiden is now 7 months old. Each month I always anticipate that this is month that things are going to slow down, but I’m always shocked at just how quickly each new month ends and another begins. He is growing up WAY too fast for me. He constantly yells Dada, Dada, Dada nonstop. Kevin walked in the door from work the other day and as soon as Jaiden saw him a smile came across his entire face and he said DADA- coincidence... I’m not sure?! Either way, it was super cute. We haven’t heard any additional Mamas, but hopefully sometime soon. He has continued to be a great eater. We’ve officially tried every fruit, vegetable, meat, and combination and he’s had no reaction to any of it, so that’s great. He still loves to be outdoors and is still surprising us at just how great of a sleeper he is. We weren’t sure what to expect when the teeth came, but his sleeping schedule has continued to remain unchanged... 8:30pm-8am. We are so lucky. He has two little teeth, but don’t let them fool you. I’ve been bit once while nursing and let me just tell you that it hurt more than I could have imagined. I screamed insanely loud, Jaiden cried, and I’m really hoping it never happens again. Ouch. Still no crawling yet, but maybe sometime soon. When we hold his hands as he stands he puts one foot behind the other and walks backwards. At first we were so confused but after doing a little research we found that the first sign of walking is actually walking backwards, so we’re thinking he may just skip the crawling stage and go right for walking. I hope we’re still a ways out as our house is not even close to being baby/toddler proof. Am I really sitting here writing about my BABY walking?! Ugh, he’s such a big boy now.

We still try to go for an evening walk every night and hit the playground on our way back. Jaiden absolutely loves swinging on the swings. I brought my camera the other night to get some pictures so I’ve posted a few below. I’ve also posted a couple new videos. The first is of him saying/yelling Dada, the middle is of him eating puffs--note how good he is at picking them up, transferring them from one hand to the other and then finally putting them in his mouth. The last video is of him playing our little game of peek-a-boo. Whenever I leave the room he bends down to try and find me. He’s so stinkin adorable :)

New noises :)

So.. over the past couple weeks Jaiden has established this crazy little squealing noise. We aren't really sure what to make of it just yet, but it's pretty cute. Please excuse his lack of pants :)

"Dada" and "Maaaaaaaaaaaaa" :)

Yayy! We've officially gotten a Dada and Maaaaaaaaa from the little guy... yes, yes, we know he doesn't really get it just yet, he's just working on mixing different syllables together,... but it doesn't take away from the fact that we've heard it! It's amazing. I heard the first Dada as I was watching him in the baby monitor before he fell asleep for an afternoon nap. I called Kevin at work as fast as I could and just put the phone up to the monitor... Daddy was so proud. Jaiden's been practicing throwing lots of different jibber jabber at us, and it's been so much fun listening to him come up with his own words. We can really get him cracking up if we repeat what he's saying back to him. He gets such a kick out of it.

I've been absolutely determined to find "the perfect sippy cup" for him, and am quite frankly a little embarrassed at how many we've tried thus far. BUT, good news... I have finally found the perfect one!! Jaiden has mastered it and looks like such a big boy drinking out of it. Because I don't fill the cup very full yet, he doesn't really understand that you have to tip it up to get the juice to come out, but he grabs it off his tray and knows exactly what to do with it.

One last bit of exciting news, Jaiden reaches out his arms toward you when he wants to be picked up now. It's so adorable. The other night Kevin was holding him and I was running around the two of them hiding behind Kevin's back playing hide-and-seek with Jaiden and when I would jump in front of him he would stretch his arms out and lean forward for me to take him. I have to be honest, it broke Daddy's heart, but it put a smile on my face :) It's amazing how a 6 month old can make you feel such an overwhelming amount of love.

Jaiden and I had a little photo shoot at the house the other morning so I've posted some of the photos from it. I ordered the most adorable little sock monkey hat, and I'm hooked. I ordered it from etsy.com and I guarantee I will be making more purchases through there. I've found a lady that makes tons of different little animal hats. I've seen lion, bear, frog, owl, lamb, bunny, puppy, monkey, dinosaur,... and so many more. So cute!!
