HOLY FURNACE BOY!

Just a little update—Jaiden and I spent the majority of the afternoon in the doctor’s office today. He was absolutely burning up when I got him up from his nap. We took his temperature here at home and it was just over 102... I wanted to get him in to make sure he didn’t have an ear infection or strep or anything else that would need meds. When they took his temp in the office it was 103.6!! They tested him for strep (which came back negative) and sent us home to eat lots of popsicles and rotate Motrin and Tylenol for the next 24 hours. We’ll have to wait and see what happens from there. She said they would definitely need to run some major tests if this hadn’t started to get better in the next day, so we’ll continue to monitor him and keep you up to do. He’s absolutely miserable and I can’t wait for my happy go lucky little guy to come back. We’re praying Makenna doesn’t come down with whatever he’s got. The Doctor said she would want to see her the minute a fever started to spike.

2 Months Old & 18 Months Old!!

Each of the kiddos had doctor’s appointments last week. We were able to schedule them together so we only had one trip to the office... but holy LONG appointment. We ended up being there for just shy of two and a half hours!! I think as we were getting ready to go we were just minutes away from a major meltdown from both kids, but really and truly they did great. Jaiden handled the shots amazingly, but Makenna screamed her head off. Poor babies. I hate shots! Makenna is now 12 lbs 7 oz (85th percentile, just less than Jaiden at 2 months—he was 12lbs 11oz) 22 ¾ inches (65th percentile) and Jaiden was 27 lbs even (64th percentile) 32 ¼ inches (44th percentile). They are both growing and developing perfectly and are healthy as can be! We’re so thankful for this. Jaiden had an autism screening, which he passed with flying colors. Our doctor was very pleased with his social interaction with her and said he surpassed the amount of words an average 18 month old says. Yayy Jaiden!! His new things now are growing like a bear and telling everyone how old he is (thanks to his second cousin Owen!) He also LOVES pointing to different objects around the house and naming them. He’s learning lots of different animal sounds but definitely loves pounding on his chest and “chanting” (?) like a gorilla the best. It’s pretty darn cute. He continues to be such a great helper with his baby sister and loves to give her lots of hugs and kisses. Makenna continues to amaze us at just how good of a baby she is and how perfectly she’s fit into our lives. She loves showing off her adorable little gummy smiles that continue to make time stop in that particular moment. It’s amazing how just a little smile can completely make a bad day good. She’s such a beautiful and happy baby and we love getting little previews as to what her personality will be like.

We’ve had an insanely busy past couple weeks, but have also had tons and tons of fun. My sister married Brady on the 17th and both kids hung in there until the party stopped. Makenna slept in different people’s arms and enjoyed all the snuggle time she got with family and Jaiden danced his little bootie off until his head hit the pillow at 12:07... yes, AM! He was such a trooper. Kevin and I loved watching him laugh and dance at the reception, and thought it was adorable to watch him try to “pick up” all the different colored lights shining on the floor from the DJ. My fears came true as soon as I walked down the aisle at the wedding with Makenna and passed her off to my cousin... she completely had a massive blowout all over her flower girl dress (and of course covered the entire front of my Aunts dress!!) Sorry again Aunt Jeanie! Both kids did great adjusting to a completely different schedule, late nights, and meeting tons of new people. My kiddos are the best!! :) We’re all in another wedding this coming weekend (Kevin’s brother Ryan is getting married) and our fingers are crossed that the kiddos will do just as good with the busy days as they did last time!

You’d think that after watching my sweet baby boy grow up so fast, I’d be able to fathom just how quickly time goes by—but I still look down at my beautiful baby girl in complete disbelief at how much she’s grown in the past couple months. I need to figure out a way to freeze time. I love how much my kids love and need me... here’s to hoping that never changes :)

Smiles & Bad Habits

First things first... we’ve got a smiley little girl on our hands :) I don’t know how I managed to forget just how amazing the first little gummy smile is! MELTS. YOUR. HEART. It’s amazing to see just how many differences there are between when Jaiden was a baby and Makenna. She L-O-V-E-S to have your undivided attention, and when you’re busy doing other things (ie: taking care of a toddler who ALSO will stop at nothing for undivided attention) she will let you know that she’s not entirely pleased with you at the moment. As soon as you’re back in her eye sight, her world is a better place again, and she’ll show you she’s pleased by showing off her little dimples! She’s a funny little lady who loves to keep me on my toes! Luckily she finds watching her older brother babble about to be quite entertaining, so this has been a huge help. She loves to be carried around in our Ergo Carrier (don’t know how I didn’t have this with Jaiden) and continues to love being pushed around in the stroller. I’m a busy lady, but loving every minute. I know I’m bias because they’re mine, but I honestly have the best little kiddos in the world.

One quick little update about one of Jaiden’s HORRBILE habits that he’s picked up and then it’s off to bed for me. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned before, but Jaiden has one of the weirdest/nastiest habits I’ve seen. First things first—he loves to suck his thumb. That’s obvious; I think he’s doing it in at least 50% of the pictures I take. No biggie, and if we’re being honest, I think it’s pretty cute. At some point he must’ve had a fuz/hair/SOMETHING wrapped around his finger so when he went to suck his thumb it kind of tickled his nose as he sucked his thumb. This very quickly turned into him chasing down the dogs and pulling their tails (yes, disgusting I know) until he got at least one hair lose... and then he positions it quickly between his second and third finger so that as he goes to suck his thumb it tickles his nose. Totally gross I know, and not to mention the dogs just flat out run when they see him coming. We’ve finally put an end to pulling the dog’s tail hair out... but have very quickly realized that he’s found a new substitute—HE PULLS HIS OWN HAIR OUT NOW! I’ll watch him in our video monitor, and the first thing he does in the morning is pull out his hair so he can suck his thumb. The other morning when I went in to get him, he had 37 hairs twisted around his fingers. Yes, that he pulled out of his own head!!! Needless to say, as soon as both weddings are done (my sister’s next weekend and then Kevin’s brothers July 3rd) our little man will be getting a buzz cut. I don’t know any other way to stop this habit! Such a stinker! I got a picture of him in the act the other day...

There are TONS of new pictures that I'll be uploading in the next few days, so make sure you check back periodically so you can see just how big our little babes are getting!
