Firsts and Favorites :)

Where did this little blonde hair blue eyed baby boy come from?! Jaiden is now completely blonde with the biggest brightest blue eyes I’ve ever seen. I’m thinking he got that from my mom, but who knew her traits were so dominate? Kevin has dark brown hair and brown eyes I have hazel eyes are dark hair (that I highlight to try to get blonde) and yet our little monkey is the complete opposite! Who would have thought?! He is now making some hilarious facial expressions that I can totally see Kevin through. I can’t help but laugh to see how different yet exactly alike they really are. Jaiden’s eyelashes are growing longer and thicker by the day, he’s such a cutie. He has officially grown out of his 0-3 month clothes already, but I have to admit I’m a little excited because I LOVE all the 3-6 month stuff that I’ve found.

I’ve been trying to stay up to date with his first year calendar and writing down all his “firsts” and “favorites”. I came up with a list of everything that he loves to do so far and I just thought I’d share...

1. He LOVES sleep. This may even be an understatement. He started sleeping through the night February 18th and has continued to do so since. He usually sleeps a good 8 hours but his record is 10 hours 15 minutes straight. Absolutely Amazing! I was in quite a bit of pain, and so ready to nurse, but I’m not complaining. He pretty much rocks.
2. The Direct TV Screen saver- He would stare at this for hours if we let him. He watches it travel all around the screen and is completely mesmerized. Pretty boring if you ask me, but again, I can’t complain. We often find ourselves using this trick right around dinner time...
3. Any sort of lights, he’s all about it. Ceiling lights, nightlights, toys with lights, and the list goes on
4. Music will always make him smile
5. Talking back to the television... I’m pretty sure this was a learned behavior. Note to Kevin- little eyes are watching!
6. Being naked is apparently one of the best things in life. We are really , REALLY hoping this is just a phase...
7. Shoving his entire fist in his mouth. This is his new thing and he continues to stick it far enough in his mouth to choke on a daily basis. He always manages to look shocked at what just happened. I’m sure he’ll catch on.... one day or another.
8. Talking a bath is probably the best part of his day. I cannot wait to get him into swimming classes, I think he is just going to be in a whole different world. He absolutely loves water.
9. Stroller rides in the mall- (which are a GREAT way to get rid of the awful cabin fever that winter brings). I wish I had brought my camera. Every time we passed a different store sign that was lit up he was wide eyed and completely fixated on it. I will be doing this on a regular basis until warmer weather comes. Then once it’s nice outside I’m pretty sure you know where you can find us majority of the time
10. His silky blankie... LIFE SAVER. I would recommend one for every parent to be. It calms him down 100% of the time. One side is a super soft microfiber and the other side is satin. Ours is from elegantbaby.com. Probably one of the best purchases I’ve made to this day.
11. Last but not least, the letters that spell out his name on his wall. Kevin and I really missed the memo... apparently, they are quite hilarious. We bought him tons of fun toys, stuffed animals, books, etc thinking he would love them (which I’m sure he will one day) but for the time being I think seeing those letters have made his life complete. I’m not sure if it’s the contrast of the white against the dark brown wall, but oh my word he is in love. He smiles, laughs, talks to those letters as if nothing else in the room matters... myself included. I could be singing, jumping all around, playing peek-a-boo and so on and he would not even know I was in the room. Whatever makes him happy....
