Happy four months to our little guy! It’s so hard to imagine that a year ago this morning Kevin and I were pacing around the house anxiously hoping to see two little lines tell us that our lives were forever changed. What an amazing and blessed year we have had.
Jaiden had his four month appointment this afternoon and I can assure you all that we have one healthy little boy. He weighs 16 lbs 12 oz (97th percentile) and is 26 ½ inches long (84th percentile). We were given the green light to start rice/oatmeal cereal anytime from now to 6 months. We’re probably going to hold off for a couple more weeks because we’ve got a little vacation coming up, but I can’t wait to see how he does with it. I’m sure we’ll have lots of funny pictures to post. He had to have the next round of shots at this appointment and they were again, absolutely awful. She said to expect a little extra soreness this time around and a slight fever, poor little guy. I made his next appointment for 8am so Daddy could come with us and see how heartbreaking the experience is. I don’t think you can truly understand how awful it is into you witness it, so there’s no getting out of it for him. Jaiden is growing and developing perfectly and the Dr was amazed by his ability to do so many crunches. His little ab muscles are so strong. He’ll be sitting up on his own in no time. Jaiden is quite the little flirt and had the attention of all the nurses and receptionists. He was not shy about showing off his little gummy smile and cute dimples. He is such a happy little guy! The last couple of weeks he has really started to find an interest in his toys. He grabs them, talks to them, and of course puts all of them in his mouth. He has found his hands and will stare at them for minutes at a time, which is always amusing to watch. He is still sleeping through the night which makes for an extremely happy mommy and daddy to play with.
I’m being pretty brave, but have to admit I’m a little nervous about a new adventure coming up this week... Jaiden’s first airplane ride! We are all heading out to Arizona Wednesday to visit Kevin’s brother, fiancé, and our little niece Ryley. Ryley is turning one on the 22nd and we are excited to be there and celebrate with them. I’m terrified of the 3 hour time difference and how it will affect Jaiden’s schedule, especially the nighttime routine. I hope I’m worrying about nothing, but time will tell. I’ll post pictures when we get back.
