I know, I know— I’m a little late in updating this, but I swear I have a legitimate excuse... I’ve been a LITTLE busy! ... But of course, loving every minute of it! :) Much to our surprise Makenna decided to not make an earlier appearance on her own, so Friday April 22nd we spent the morning hanging out as a family of 3 for the very last time and finished getting everything ready to go meet our baby girl. Let me just tell you, it was such a different experience having everything planned out and scheduled this time... so much better in my opinion. My mom came over to watch Jaiden, and Kevin and I headed to the hospital around noon to check in and get prepped for the c-section. The three hours between the time we got there and the start of the c-section felt like DAYS. I can’t even put into words how nervous and just flat out scared I was. Yes, I’ve been through it all before, but I wasn’t awake— BIG difference! To make a long story short when the time came to head to the OR I was ready to go. Kevin kept reminding me that our baby girl would be here within minutes, and that there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I was given a spinal this time around and it worked beautifully. I was so nervous that I was going to feel the entire c-section, but I felt nothing. All the nurses, doctors, and anesthesiologists were amazing and our little bundle was out and wailing within 15 minutes. She was born at 3:08pm, weighed 8 lbs 2 ounces, was 20 inches long, and she’s one STRONG little girl! They brought her over to Kevin & I’s side of the sheet and we fell in love all over again. I’m still amazed at just how quickly your babies can completely steal your heart. She’s here, she’s healthy, she’s absolutely beautiful... and a spitting image of her Daddy (I know you hear it on a daily basis Kevin, but don’t let it go to your head... there’s a little of me in there... somewhere!) After the procedure was finished I finally got to get my hands on my baby girl, and I definitely didn’t let go for awhile. She’s perfect and we love her so much already. The three of us waited in our recovery room for the next 2 hours and then were sent to the room we’d be staying in for the rest of our duration at the hospital. We made sure that all of our family knew ahead of time that before everyone else met her, we wanted my Mom to come in and grab the video camera and record Jaiden meeting his little sister for the first time. I know the rest of our family members were dying to meet Makenna, but I knew that if they were all in the room Jaiden wouldn’t even notice his little sister. My mom recorded our first moments together as a family of 4 and it’s something that we’ll remember forever. At first Jaiden was very confused and just downright curious but quickly started showering his sister with hugs and “kisses” (He used to be so good at giving kisses, real kisses, but now a kiss is usually touching foreheads—equally as cute). We are so truly blessed to have two beautiful children that make each day so much better just because they're in it.

We stayed at the hospital until Monday morning and were thrilled to have so many family members and friends come visit us and meet our newest arrival. Kevin was able to take off work for the remainder of that week, my Mom stayed with us last week, and then Kevin is off again this week. I’m so lucky to have so many people help out while I recover. The recovery this time around is so much easier than last time... I feel so good already after two weeks that I’m constantly telling myself to relax and take advantage of the help because I don’t want to overdo it. I will say one thing though; I’m so ready to pick up my little guy! It kills me to have him run over to me with his arms up after a fall or whatever else and have to walk him over to someone else to lift him up to me so I can hug him, or run to the couch and have him climb up to get me. It honestly breaks my heart and I can’t wait to scoop him up and hold him! Just as I suspected (and was warned) he is HUGE now in comparison to his little sister. Oh my word, when did that happen?! There’s days where I honestly just sit there and stare at him. He loves his little Emmy (our new nickname for Makenna) and Kev & I are having so much fun watching the two of them interact. He is going to be such a wonderful big brother!
As much as I would love to sit here and update everyone with new stories, sleep patterns and much much more, the rest of this update is going to have to come at a later date. The little babe has decided she’s hungry and I’m being paged. :) I’ve uploaded a few pictures, but there are tons more to come. I’ll try to upload a few videos next time around as well.

I’ve been able to take quite a few newborn pictures, but my friend Abby came over last week to take some more along with some family pics. Here’s the link if any of you would like to take a peek!

I'm so happy for your family of four! Thanks for the blog update - I was so anxious to hear the birth story. I'm glad the planned c-section worked perfectly and that your recovery has been faster this time around. YAY! Can't wait to meet Makenna and Jaiden in 1 month! ::hugs::
