Ultrasound :)

Today was easily one of, if not, the best day of my life. We had our ultrasound this morning, and it was amazing. Kevin and I went back into the ultrasound room with the tech (my mom and sister Amanda hadn’t arrived yet) and she asked us right away if we wanted to know what we were having and we both said in unison, YES! She then asked us if we had any guesses one way or another. Me, being oh so confident in my motherly intuition said, no guesses, I’m ABSOLUTELY sure we’re having a girl. I told her all of my many reason for thinking this, along with the fact that the nursery already had a few pink items piling up in it. She said alright, lets confirm what you’re thinking then, and the ultrasound began. As soon as baby appeared on the screen she immediately found the genital region and froze the screen. It was SOOOO obvious what I was looking at, but I was completely in shock. I starred over at Kevin’s face as the tech began typing the word B-O-Y and I really wish I had a camera in my hand at that very moment. The look on his face was absolutely priceless. Shortly after my mom and sister wandered back into our room. With a tear rolling down my check and a HUGE smile on my face, all I could say was mom come look. She, unaware at what she was seeing, started with the “awww…” I stopped her and said mom, are you READING what is says and her face completely lit up. We were all so surprised, but could not be happier. I have to say, although I might have a small bias, our little man is a cutie already. It goes without saying, little monkey has us both completely wrapped around his little fingers already :) The tech then went through all the anatomy of baby, literally from head to toe and everything is absolutely perfect. Heart, liver, brain, kidneys, bladder, spine, arms, legs, hands, feet,.. everything, was at the exact point in development that they should be. We feel so fortunate to be blessed with a healthy little guy. The pictures really don’t do this experience justice… I already want to see him again.

I've had a couple people ask me what colors we are doing in the nursery, so I thought I would post a few pictures of what it will eventually look like. We've had bedding picked out (both boy and girl options) for a long time, and of course the boy nursery set is in the process of being discountinued. As soon as I got home today I began to work some magic. After talking with about 17 different Pottery Barn Kids Stores, I think I have somehow managed to find all the pieces to the set.

Just to clear up any confusion, Tristan is not a name we've picked or are considering. These pictures are from the Pottery Barn Website. We also decided on a different crib.

  1. Yay Sara, I'm so HAPPY for you and Kevin! My ultrasound is 2 weeks from Monday and the wait is killing me. I also feel like I'm having a girl, but I'm sure that means it's really a boy :) Congrats to the both of you -- and have fun decorating that nursery. I love the bedding you've picked out! Are you going to reveal any names??
