28 weeks appointment:
Just a little update quick... I had my 28 week appointment Monday morning and I passed the glucose test with flying colors! Thank goodness... last time around I went in expecting the absolute worst tasting thing in the world, and was pleasantly surprised at how much it tasted like orange hi-c. This time around I went in expecting orange hi-c and it tasted, how do I word this nicely, ummm let’s just say it was disgusting. I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to do the 3 hour test, so that’s a great thing. I talked with the doctor and have a tentative plan of action for Makenna’s arrival. Next appointment, Valentine's Day, we are going to go ahead and schedule a c-section for April 21st. If I go into labor prior to, I make all the calls. I can try for a vbac if I want, but I have the say as to when and if I throw in the towel. This makes me feel so much better about a vbac, I just didn’t want to get stuck in the same predicament as last time and not be able to change the plan of action. I like knowing that I’m calling the shots. I know to expect the unexpected, so I’m really trying not to have a set plan one way or another... but I’ll keep an open mind. The doctor thinks there’s a really good chance labor this time around is going to be intense and fast just because the kiddos are so close to one another. He assured me that my body is going to know exactly what to do when the time comes, especially because it just went through everything a year ago. We’ll see! I’m still definitely leaning towards a c-section, but only time will tell. I’ve still been having a decent amount on pretty intense contractions each week so after all the routine stuff was done at the appointment they threw me into the ultrasound room to double check cervical length. Good news—even though I’m definitely having contractions, they aren’t affecting my cervix in any way. If my cervix was thinning/shortening he said we’d have to take some sort of action because it’s still WAY too soon for baby girl to make her appearance just yet. Everything looked great and now I have peace of mind that everything is still right on track. We didn’t get a peek at Makenna at all, but the ultrasound tech did say that she’s head down... for now. We'll be seeing her sweet little face so soon :)
